Is it possible to replace only some parts of a system (obsolete or faulty) and keep the components that are still usable?

CUSTOMER REQUEST:

The term "revamping," from the English "to revamp," meaning to modernize or renew, is used to refer to the process of refurbishment and restructuring of an electrical system.
In this specific case, the request was to recreate the connections between a transformer and the switchgear, after replacing the latter with a more advanced model. However, the position and size of the terminals were completely different from the model in use.

OUR SOLUTION:

The collaboration between the Technical Departments of Teknomega and the client enabled the development of a solution that best adapted to the new system, improving performance in terms of thermal capacity and safety in case of short circuit.
The greatest challenge was to adapt a system that was part of an existing setup with components positioned differently.

The solution was achieved by using various products from the Teknomega catalog:

  • UNIVERSAL ΩTOP BUSBAR SUPPORTS characterized by high mechanical resistance, capable of withstanding the high load of the bars and enduring the electrodynamic forces in the event of a short circuit.
  • FLEXIBLE BRAIDED JOINTS one of the most commonly used systems for connecting a fixed part to a vibrating part, such as the transformer in operation.
  • RIGID BARS properly cut, perforated and bent, so to optimize the connections with the braided joints, ensuring the correct functioning of the latter (longer lifespan of the strands).
